Learn Building Accessible Web Sites Online

This class is a must for anyone working with building accessible websites.

Make your pages accessible to all users whether handicapped or not. Build pages that include graphics, animations, colors, interesting layouts and ensure that your site and content is still usable with assisting devices for the handicapped or even mobile phones.  After completing this course you will understand that making a site accessible doesn't have to take a lot more work or be expensive.

Help make your pages more accessible to everyone.

Identify accessibility concerns for building web pages

Your visitors will not always be using a web browser on a computer to view your content. Your content may not be understandable if viewed with a screen reading application, a brailler, or if viewed on a PDA web-enabled device. The navigation may not work if someone has to use a keyboard or device other than a mouse to navigate.

This course will teach you to:

  • Create pages that are section 508 compliant
  • Use HTML options, tag attributes and other requirements that will help to make your pages accessible.

Understand the various assisting technologies used to view web pages

Before you can make a web page accessible, you should know how your audience is viewing your web page.

Explore alternative viewing options for the:

  • Visually Impaired
  • Physically Handicapped
  • Hearing Impaired
  • Learning Disabled

Identify guidelines for building accessible web sites.

Following proper guidelines promotes accessibility and will help make Web content more available to all users.  Also, guidelines help people find information on the Web more quickly.
